NEXT GENERATIONS of Holocaust Survivors

NEXT GENERATIONS E-NEWSLETTER
Winter 2008

Dear Members & Friends,

With the strong support of our members and friends, NEXT GENERATIONS has been making important progress in achieving its mission of keeping the voices alive of our parents and grandparents and those who perished in the Holocaust. The response we have received from the community for the events we have hosted has been both phenomenal and inspiring. Almost 225 people attended the program we co- sponsored with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. The audience heard about the important work that is being done to salvage and preserve the evidence of the Holocaust for generations to come. What could be more satisfying than hearing a Holocaust survivor stand up and thank us for what we are doing so her story and those of all the others won’t be lost? Our film presentation of “The Nazi Officer’s Wife” followed by our guest speaker Dr. Bernd Wollschlager received rave reviews. NG Board Member Greta Brewer did an incredible job of leading a fascinating discussion of the book, “The German Money” by Lev Raphael. In January, S. Hanala Stadner combined humor and pathos in sharing her story of growing up as a child of Holocaust survivors.

All these programs have helped strengthen the special bond that connects us. When we come together, we laugh, share stories and sincerely understand each other. That is why our Oral Testimony Project is so special. We achieved a critical milestone with the production of our DVD that captures our experiences as children and witnesses of the eyewitnesses of the Holocaust. We are presently working on a curriculum for school children who will learn from our Oral Testimony Project and hopefully benefit from our history. We hope our stories will encourage them to stand up against injustice, overcome challenges, and respect individual differences. We need your help in furthering this project. Kindly make a donation to NEXT GENERATIONS to enable us to “keep the voices alive” from one generation to the next.

With your support and dedication, NEXT GENERATIONS is flourishing. Your involvement is vital to our success. Make sure your membership is renewed. Attend our events and please invite your friends, neighbors and family. Offer your expertise so we continue to thrive as an invaluable educational resource to the community about the Holocaust and genocides. Whether you choose to stuff envelopes, speak to community groups, or help to raise money for one of our programs, please be part of NEXT GENERATIONS! Help us carry the torch from generation to generation! As always, a special thanks to LEAH (League for Educational Awareness of the Holocaust) for their continued support. Check out www.leahforkids.org. for more information.

Warmest regards,

Rose Smith, NG VP of Membership, rmsmith376@yahoo.com
